i come here every couple weeks as a treat. the staff is very friendly and helpful. i love the taste, take on japanese cuisine but vegan. i’ve had the ginger panna cotta: very delicious. the katsu curry & tempura udon i really enjoyed. hojicha tea was soo refreshing as well, excited to go back.

Obon Shokudo offers delicious and authentic Okonomiyaki and Curry Udon among many other Entrees flavors. There are also many beverage options, including several tea, sake tastes. We visited for lunch and had a great experience. The staff was very courteous and knowledgeable, we were guided through the menu and were assisted to make the best choices. The restaurant is cozy and clean. Restroom was also very clean. There are several parking locations near by. We decided not to drive. From downtown Portland, take the B loop street car to SE Grand Ave. To return to downtown Portland, take the A loop street car from MLK Avenue, just one block west from the restaurant. Thank you !

Came here around lunch time because I was craving onigiri. I sat on the counter ordered from my mobile and watched them make my Onigiris from my seat. They had so many great choices on the menu, and can't wait to come again and again and try different things.

I liked the all vegan concept and variety of menu they offer. We enjoyed our meal and staff was also very welcoming! Would definitely recommend if you like a comfort meal in downtown of Portland.

An absolutely extraordinary meal! Every single flavor was perfect. Customers order their own lunch using a QR code, but the staff is available to answer questions. Service with his friend day and efficient. I really love the creativity and inventive use of ingredients such a stinging nettles. Can’t wait to return and see what you do next!

During a recent trip to Portland, this was the best vegan meal that I had. All dishes were made with exceptional care and attention to detail - you can taste the intentional craftsmanship across the whole menu. I can’t speak highly enough of the service and atmosphere too. Awesome!

Delicious curry udon and I love that the staff are so kind and that they mask here! I also really appreciate the payment method where we each order the food on our phones (that way splitting the check correctly is easy!), but that if that is an access problem in any way, they can take your order for you! This place is how all restaurants should run! And delicious vegan Japanese food?! Say lessss!

Went to grab yuzu sprouts, left with yuzu sprouts and delicious food to go. Inside the dining area is clean, modern and comfortable. I nibbled on a little bit of my food there and Alice who served me and saw to me getting my seedlings and everything out to go is wonderful. Very patient, thoughtful and helpful. The food. People, my pana cotta is 4 layers- jelly, pinks for cherry blossoms, a cream layer, and green for matcha. It's creamy, layered and beautiful. It is hard to find quality daifuku and onigiri anywhere and I had to drive 2 hours out to get here. Worth it. Most places give you plain rice outside and a flavorful core inside. This is flavorful through with texture and different flavors throughout and a core for dimension. Nigiri is also quite a different treat and the nasturtium leaf is unique and we're to it, instead of just the standard flowers. Great taste with the cherry blossoms not being overwhelming. Good bite size. Took this to the coast as the travel food it is (ok maybe not so much the pana cotta) and everything was worth the wait. Folks we live in a time where going out is expensive and I love my food as a unique and jam packed experience with full blown comfort/magestic to my senses, flavor, and structurally gorgeous if I'm going to be paying for anything now. Truly enjoyed the experience, hope you do too.
